2024: Indiv. Stableford (17.4.)

Venue:  Bonalba Golf & Spa, 17.4.24

 

Today’s competition was Individual Stableford, which was an overall qualifier, including handicap adjustments with the Spanish Federation.  We had 23 members taking part, 9 players in Division 1 and 14 in Division 2.

 

Albert Bouchoucha

We were delighted to welcome our new member, Albert Bouchoucha, originally from France.  His handicap puts him into the First Division and he immediately made his mark by becoming second in that Division and also by scoring two nearest the pins.  On hole 11, it was so close that the tape measure had to decide.  Unfortunately, Derek Cruickshank lost out on that occasion.

 

Congratulations to Gay and Luc, the winners of their respective Divisions, for playing to par and better, and to everyone else on the winners’ board.

There were a total of two birdies today, from Albert on hole 4 and from Karine Sienaert, who was not on the green but chipped in.

 

Individual Stableford Competition:

1^st Division:

2^nd place with 35 points off 21 hcp – Albert Bouchoucha

Winner with 37 points off 22 hcp – Gay Brooks

 

2^nd Division: 

2^nd place with 33 points off 30 hcp – Graham Sutton

Winner with 36 points off 32 hcp – Luc Verhaegen

 

 

2024: Yellow Ball Stableford Team Game (10.4.)

Venue:  Bonalba Golf & Spa

 

Today we had 24 players competing in a 4-ball team game.  The format was “Yellow Ball” Stableford.  Each team received two yellow balls, one being the spare one, in case the first ball was lost.  

 

The team took it in turn to play the yellow ball which gave the relevant player double Stableford points.  If a team lost both yellow balls, they could then not score double points.  For each yellow ball returned to the Captain at the end of the game, the team received a further 5 points.

 

There were also prizes for nearest the pin and birdies on the par 3 holes.

 

We were pleased to welcome two new members from France, Jean-Jacques Bourrier and Didier Quemper, who had played with us as guests a few times in the past.  We hope, they will have many more enjoyable games in our Society.

2024: Monthly Medal (3.4.)

Venue:  Bonalba Golf & Spa

 

On this first Wednesday of the month, we played the April Monthly Medal Maximum Score, which qualified for all Society Competitions and handicap adjustments.

 

We had an attendance of 20 members, and 5 guests. 9 members came from Division 1 and 11 from Division 2. 

The best overall score  came from Klaudia in Division 2, who was the only one playing under par. The second to fourth place all had a score of net 73.  Unfortunately, Luc Sienaert lost out on the prizes as Santi had a better back 9.  In Division 1, Robert bagged his second consecutive Medal.

The best guest player was Jean-Jaques Bourrier.

There were 2 twos today, qualifying for “Bob’s balls”.  They came from Patricia Salardaine on hole 4 and Santi Hung, not on hole 14 but on hole 11.

2^nd place with a net 76 off 23 hcp – Stan Tarabula

2^nd Division: 

3^rd place with a net 73 off 25 hcp – Santi Hung

2^nd place with a net 73 off 24 hcp – Bob Crow, beating Santi on the back 9

2024: Texas Scramble (20.3.)

Venue:  Bonalba Golf & Spa

 

Today we played a Texas Scramble, with 4 drives to be taken by each player.

After last week’s big turn-out for the St. Patrick’s competition, we had another big turn-out today of 34 players which gave us two 3-ball teams who had to make 6 drives each.

 

We were pleased to welcome two new members from France, Franćois and Patricia Salardaine, who have played with us as guests a few times in the past.  We hope, they will have many more enjoyable games in our Society.
